1. 9th India International Water Week 2026

The 9th India International Water Week 2026 was held in New Delhi with a focus on climate-resilient water management and long-term water security. The event brought together policymakers, experts and stakeholders to discuss sustainable approaches to water management.

The event was held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Discussions covered areas such as climate resilience, river and reservoir management, water security and international cooperation.

2. 3rd National Conference of ANTF Heads

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 3rd National Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Task Forces of States and Union Territories in New Delhi.

The two-day conference was organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Heads of ANTFs from 36 States and Union Territories participated along with representatives of concerned government departments and other stakeholders.

The conference focused on the Vision Document on Narcotics Control 2026-2029. Important areas included dismantling drug cartels, tackling synthetic drugs, investigations involving the darknet and cryptocurrencies, and strengthening coordination among enforcement agencies.

3. New NCB Zone Complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun

During the ANTF conference, foundation stones were laid for new Narcotics Control Bureau Zone Complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun. The revamped NCB website was also launched and awareness material against drug abuse was released.

4. 72nd National Film Awards

President Droupadi Murmu graced the presentation ceremony of the 72nd National Film Awards at Ekta Nagar, Kevadia in Gujarat on 22 September 2026.

The National Film Awards are among India's major honours recognising excellence in cinema. The ceremony highlighted achievements across different categories of Indian filmmaking.

5. Telecom Consumer Protection Regulations amended

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released the Telecom Consumer Protection Thirteenth Amendment Regulations, 2026. The development forms part of TRAI's regulatory framework for protecting telecom consumers and improving service-related safeguards.

6. World Rhino Day observed

World Rhino Day was observed on 22 September. The occasion highlights the conservation of rhinoceros species and efforts to protect them from threats such as poaching and habitat loss.
