Government cuts import duty on major edible oils
The Government of India reduced the Basic Customs Duty on major imported crude edible oils to help moderate domestic prices and provide relief to consumers. Basic Customs Duty on crude sunflower oil was reduced from 10 percent to nil, while the duty on crude soybean oil and crude palm oil was reduced from 10 percent to 5 percent.
The government maintained an import duty differential of 19.25 percent between crude and refined edible oils to support domestic refining. Industry stakeholders were also advised to pass the benefit of lower duties to consumers through appropriate reductions in prices.
INS Trishul participates in Exercise VARUNA
INS Trishul arrived at Toulon in France to participate in the 24th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise VARUNA between the Indian Navy and the French Navy.
The exercise includes professional engagements in harbour and at sea. It aims to improve interoperability, exchange best practices and strengthen maritime cooperation between India and France.
India wins medals at the Asian Games
Naorem Roshibina Devi won a silver medal in the Women's Sanda 60 kg event. The achievement also marked her third consecutive Asian Games with a medal.
Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won a bronze medal in the Men's Double Sculls event. Their medal added to India's achievements in rowing at the Asian Games.
Arogya Manthan 2026 announced
Arogya Manthan 2026 will be organised by the National Health Authority at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The event will mark eight years of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
As of 1 September 2026, more than 97.8 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts had been created and more than 121 crore health records had been linked under the digital health ecosystem. More than 5.6 lakh health facilities and 11 lakh healthcare professionals were registered.
4th Bharat CPSEs Consultative Conclave inaugurated
The fourth edition of the Bharat CPSEs Consultative Conclave was inaugurated at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Vadodara. The three-day conclave is being held from 24 to 26 September 2026 under the Mission Karmayogi framework.
The conclave focuses on excellence in project and asset management, with discussions covering PM Gati Shakti, multimodal connectivity, technology-driven asset management and global best practices.
